Our Story

NORTH PLAINS MARKET & LIQUOR is one of the oldest store fronts in North Plains, Oregon. Originally North Plains Market was part of the Mays Bros General Store which featured hardware and animal feed in addition to groceries.

Eventually the hardware and grocery businesses were separated, creating the footprint of the current Market and adjacent Treasure Chest Antique Mall. After the closure of the hardware store in 2014 the Market expanded its inventory to include more general household and automotive items.

Our store is part of an American dream come true for the owner/operator. Kyong Kim and her family immigrated from South Korea to the US in 1984. Since that time she has become a US citizen and both of her sons pursued careers in the US military as her daughter completed college. She purchased North Plains Market in 2007, and expanded the products to include liquor in 2016.

We’re proud to have produced years of happy customers and look forward to continuing our work for years to come! Our love for our North Plains community drives who we are and what we do every day.
